WHO SHOULD APPLY

To participate in The Orators, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Be a Nigerian citizen.
Be between the ages of 18 and 25 at the time of application.
Be currently enrolled in a University or College, or have graduated from one.
Be willing and able to participate in The Orators Academy and Grand Finale at the designated location.
An Audition fee of N10,000 is required
Must adhere to all program terms and conditions.

IMPROVING YOUR ORATORY SKILL is the focus of the program. Each participant will be reviewed, trained and enhanced by program coaches.

About The Orators

The Orators is Nigeria’s premier public speaking competition, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of eloquent, visionary leaders. Tailored for young Nigerians aged 18 to 25, the program is designed to cultivate exceptional skills in oratory, leadership, creativity, and innovation.

This rigorous and immersive competition delves deep into the art of public speaking and effective leadership. Participants embark on their journey with a comprehensive selection process and online bootcamp, followed by an intense on-site where they are challenged to articulate their ideas, inspire their peers, and demonstrate their potential as future leaders.

Competition Process and Timeline

The journey through The Orators competition is structured as follows:

> Application > Review & Selection > Audition > Finalist Selection > Online Bootcamp > Grand Finale Event

Application (Deadline: September 30th, 2024): Submit your application online and share your vision for a better Nigeria. Apply Here.
Review & Selection (October 1st - 16th, 2024): A panel of experts evaluates applications and identifies the most promising candidates. Shortlisted applicants will be notified during this period.
Audition (October 21st - 26th, 2024): Shortlisted candidates will showcase their oratory skills in a live virtual audition, delivering a prepared speech on a designated topic. Successful candidates will be required to submit a 1-page growth plan for the Orators Academy, and a 90-seconds video on a given topic. A panel of experienced judges will assess your delivery, content, and overall stage presence.
Finalist Selection (October 31st, 2024): Only the most outstanding performers advance to the finalist round.
Online Bootcamp (November 18th - 23rd, 2024): Finalists will undergo intensive training and coaching through an online bootcamp. Renowned experts and industry leaders will provide mentorship on advanced public speaking techniques, leadership and personal development. .
Grand Finale Event (December 18th - 21st): The culmination of the competition, the Grand Finale is a spectacular event in Abuja showcasing the top orators. Finalists will deliver compelling speeches on a designated theme. The ultimate winner will be crowned and awarded the grand prize and “The Orator of the Year” Award 2024. Additional prizes will be awarded to other finalists.

Judging Criteria

The Orators competition places a premium on holistic development. Contestants will be evaluated based on the following key criteria:

Coachability: Demonstrated willingness to learn and grow from feedback.
Research Ability: Capacity to gather and analyze information effectively.
Clarity of Thought: Ability to articulate ideas clearly and logically.
Excellent Presentation: Strong delivery, stage presence, and audience engagement.
Attitude: Positive mindset, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship.
